Latest news is that prayer is allegedly good for your health. I see prayer very much as the same as meditation. When you pray you are asking God for something or giving thanks, in meditation we are trying to look inward but still conecting to that which binds us all. It is a kind of energy that is in everything, around everything and is the very fabric of reality. As some religeons state that God is omnipresent, 'he' is everywhere. Well from my experience, everything is made from energy which is converted into mass possessing objects, this vibrates and is given properties in a physical sense by how the energy is stored and vibrates not just thermodynamicly but on a quantum level. This energy is I believe from the big bang, and the big bang started from a single event, could God have been this event, the energy of God creating the universe, everything in the universe being part of this energy? When we pray we are trying to connect, the same is true when we meditate and try to obtain prana or chi or whatever you would like to call the energy of the universe. If you meditated with this energy and were meditating on a specific issue this would have the same effect as asking the omnipresant God. The other thing that is the same for both prayer and meditations is that in both we asking for help, answers, or energy, either way I belive we should always give thanks wether you belive it is to God, or the energy of the universe which lets face it could be 'him'!
